The brief descriptions below are designed to familiarize you with our staff's training, professional credentials and work experience. Dr. Ron Deblinger, Dr. Les Elfenbein, and Dr. Jason Deblinger work as a team and consult with one another to provide the utmost in endodontic excellence.
Dr. Deblinger started our office in 1976 after completing his endodontic residency at the University of Pennsylvania. He received his dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his undergraduate degree from Alfred University.
Dr. Deblinger has been active in organized dentistry since beginning his career. He has served as President of Passaic County Dental Society, New Jersey Association of Endodontists, Passaic Dental Study Club, and has served as Chairman of various committees at many different levels. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the American Association of Endodontists and was previously the treasurer of the Research and Education Foundation of the American Association of Endodontists as well as the General Chairman of the national AAE meeting. Dr. Deblinger was the keynote speaker for the UMDNJ 2004 White Coat Ceremony for incoming dental students and has also been included in the Guide to America's Top Dentists.
Dr. Deblinger is currently the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Delta Dental of New Jersey, where he sits on the Audit and Executive committees. He is Chairman of the AAE meeting in April of 2009 as well as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the graduate department of endodontics at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
He is a fellow in the American and International College of Dentists.
Dr. Elfenbein completed his endodontic specialty training at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to that he completed a general practice residency at Yale New Haven Hospital. His dental degree is from Fairleigh Dickinson University School of Dental Medicine.
He was selected as one of New Jersey's "Top Dentists" in the category of endodontists by New Jersey Monthly Magazine in 2002, in 2005 and again in the most recent survey in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. He has also been included in the Guide to America's Top Dentists. He is the Editor of the Passaic County Dental Society Newsletter and is a member of its Board of Directors. In addition, he is a fellow of the International College of Dentists.
Dr. Elfenbein is currently the Director of Endodontics and the Director of Specialty Services at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey. He is also a clinical assistant professor at Seton Hall University in the Department of Graduate Medical Education.
He lectures extensively on the subject of endodontics at local and national meetings providing continuing education courses to dentists and endodontists.
Dr. Shalini Tewary brings a vast array of clinical experience to our practice. After completing dental school at Boston University she served as a resident in general dentistry at Boston University. Dr. Tewary received the excellence award, an honor bestowed upon the top resident in that post doctoral program. In addition, in 2000 she received an excellence award from the North East Society of Periodontists.
Prior to pursuing her passion for endodontics she was a general dentist in Bergen County for seven years. She completed her graduate training in endodontics at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Dr. Tewary did research in endodontics which was published in the Journal of Endodontics in 2012.
Dr. Kate Huza received her specialty certificate in endodontics from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. Prior to her specialty training, Dr. Huza completed a general practice residency at the Department of Veterans Affairs Hospital in Manhattan. She received her D.M.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, not far from where she grew up.
Dr. Huza was inducted into the OKU National Dental Honor Society and has been recognized by the American Association of Endodontics for exceptional ability in endodontics. She is board eligible and a member of local and national dental societies including the American Association of Endodontics and the American Dental Association.
Dr. Huza currently serves as a clinical instructor in endodontics at Columbia University. Dr. Huza’s enthusiasm for endodontics and compassion for patients provide for a comfortable and personalized dental experience.
Dr. Jason Deblinger attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey for both dental school as well as his specialty training in endodontics.
He brings to our office an expertise in the area of surgical endodontics and microsurgical endodontic techniques.
He is a member of the faculty at UMDNJ in the Department of Post Doctoral Endodontics where he teaches clinical endodontics. He provides clinical and academic instruction to dentists who are in the endodontic specialty program at the dental school. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the New York Dental Project.
